When it comes to the ever-changing mobile market, holding on to the #1 spot for a significant chunk of time is not an easy task.
As TechCrunch reported earlier this week, Android OS has blown everyone’s minds by managing to beat out both Apple’s IOS and RIM for the first time ever in terms of smartphone subscriber share in the U.S.
While Android passed iOS in terms of subscriber share in the previous period, this is the first time the Google-developed OS has unseated RIM from the number one spot.
We find this bit of news particularly interesting since we recently published an article that looked at the mobile device trends among our customer base.
Zendesk’s customers serve more than 20 million end users worldwide, and of those end users, iPhone continues to be our most popular native support app, with 43 percent of end users that access a self-service interface with a mobile device using an iPhone. Meanwhile, 26 percent use an Android device, 25 percent use an iPad, and 1 percent use a BlackBerry.
Of course, when it comes to the mobile market, nothing is ever certain.
Thankfully, no matter which way the mobile market tide decides to turn, Zendesk always has you covered with full-fledged help desk mobile apps for customer support agents right out of the box. Support agents can handle customer service through their iPhone, iPad, Android, or BlackBerry devices, emails, tweets and the like.
