Zendesk continues to strive to be an empathetic, active and responsible corporate citizen. As a company that builds software to improve customer relationships, we take a service-first approach when it comes to all our stakeholders: our customers, our employees, our partners and our communities. With that in mind, we are releasing our second Global Impact Report, and like a product release, we aim to do better every time.
Technology should be simple and accessible, and there is no reason to have any lesser standard for our reporting on our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) information. We hope you will find it easy to access and understand. Our ESG metrics section includes year-over-year data to provide measurements on our ESG data points between 2019 and 2020. We have also shared how those disclosures align with common reporting frameworks including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards and the Sustainable Accounting Standards Board (SASB) framework.
2020 was a year everyone struggled to overcome the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to addressing a new way of working for our global employee population, we focused on some of the important social causes that came to the fore in 2020, such as addressing systemic racism, as well as the creative ways we are using our technology to solve additional social challenges. You can read about these in more detail in stories and content in the new report.
We welcome the increased interest and scrutiny of ESG metrics that we see today from our industry and by investors. We view this interest as an important reminder of our commitments to environmental, social and governance goals we have set for ourselves. In 2021, we have added additional oversight to our ESG strategy (including a new management committee wholly dedicated to this effort) and look forward to continuing along this journey.
Thank you for your interest in Zendesk.
